Church of the who?
Let me explain. Jesus, after his birth in Bethlehem, lived for most of his life in the town of Nazareth and was therefore called a Nazarene. Our church seeks to identify itself with Jesus the Nazarene, the founder of the Christian Church We believe in the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We also believe strongly believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, containing everything necessary for men and women of every age to find the living God. A vital part of the ministry of the church is of course the Sunday worship services. The services usually contain both traditional and contemporary hymns/songs along with the preaching of the message of the Bible. The Church of the Nazarene has been part of the Woodside community for over 40 years.
Through the years the facilities have changed until we now have a very versatile building which meets the needs of various age groups. The Woodside Church of the Nazarene is always looking at ways to be of practical help to the people who live in the area. Currently the church offers various programme and clubs for children, youth, adult and senor adult. You can find out exact details of these programmes elsewhere on this website and in Day by Day, the weekly newsletter. Our concern for the people of our community is evidenced in current goals and projects, which include a homework club, a lunchtime club and the employment of a youth worker. The Church of the Nazarene, as a denomination, has existed for over 100 years. It now has more than 12000 churches in over 140 world areas. The Church, since it beginning days, has always sought to meet the practical needs, as well as the spiritual needs of people. In the 1890s and early 20th century the church sought to provide food for the hungry, shelter and clothing for the homeless, and homes for unmarried mothers and their children. Today, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) continues to provide help around the world whenever and wherever natural disasters strike. Our church is open to all who have a desire to worship God or who want to find out more about God. If you do have a regular place of worship maybe our church could be your home. We look forward to seeing you and assure you of a warm welcome. May you know God’s blessing upon your life.
