Missions – NMI
NMI is the name of the world wide organization of our denomination. It promotes, educates and raises funds for missions for The Church of the Nazarene.
Its stated objectives are:
- To encourage people to pray for all efforts of world evangelism
- To inform people of the world’s needs and what the church is doing top meeting those needs
- To challenge children and youth to learn about and participate in the missions of the church
- To raised funds for mission outreach.
Nazarene Mission Facts:
The Church of the Nazarene is ministering in 143 work areas -There are 742 missionaries and volunteers from 34 world areas – Up to March 2002, The Church of the Nazarene has shown the ‘Jesus’ film to 16.5 million people – The Church ministers in more than 150 languages and dialects and provides literature in 93 of these languages – This year the church has entered the countries of Equatorial Guinea, Armenia, Madeira Islands, Greece and Turkey – The Woodside Church of the Nazarene has a monthly missionary emphasis where news about missions is shared.
The church raises money for various aspects of the missionary programme and some members of the local congregation have been involved in voluntary work in other cultures.
